Our Missions Trip TO the USA! July 2019

Hola Familia Y Amigos Amados! (Greetings to our beloved Family and Friends!)

Summer has been going by super quick! In our last update, we shared about the missions trip we were going to take to Texas and here we are 6 weeks later back in Colombia. We have greatly enjoyed our June/July. There has been a lot of movement but it has been a time of growth and learning.

Our missions trip to Texas was awesome. The dates of our time there was from June 13 to July 10th and during those days, we served in the cities of Tyler, Waco, and San Antonio. We did  a lot of work to serve different churches in each of those locations. In Tyler and Waco we lead camps that the churches wanted to do with their young people. What a special time to share with those youth in both locations. The kids and their leaders from the different churches, were impacted at seeing Colombians come TO the USA to serve with God in missions and in response to seeing that, they confirmed to us their desire to come next year TO Colombia to serve God in missions and participate in a camp that we will be hosting here. What a privilege it was to inspire a heart for serving God through missions in these two churches!

Our King´s Kids Team pic with the special campers of this 3 day youth camp.

During the King´s Kids missions trip, we also did different park/public evangelism, door-to-door evangelism, Church services, work projects, ministry in an old-folks home, and  ministry in the Projects in San Antonio. It was busy and on top of that, I had the opportunity to be the main translator with Mar as the secondary one for every ministry time as well as the chauffeur in driving the team around. So there  was definitely a full work-load but it was a beautiful time of simply learning to depend more and more on God as we were in this position of leadership of the missions trip.

Thank you for your prayers! For real, there were so many miraculous open doors and moments of crazy provision for the team that it is impossible to deny God´s hand at work during our trip, in the áreas of the logistics and especially in the ministry times. So thank you for praying because we have testimonies of God´s faithfulness and answers to your many prayers!

Special time to hear Loren Cunningham, founder of YWAM, teach during a meeting in Tyler, Texas. (No one knew where to look, the downside of having three different people take pictures at the same time..)

Our team consisted of 21 people which included 5 families. The youngest team member was 9 years old and the oldest was 78 years old! Age does not limit God´s ability to work through you! We witnessed both, the 9 year old and 78 year old share their testimonies of what God has done in their life and people left impacted and challenged by their stories. You aren´t disqualified by age but instead by a lack of willingness to say, “Here I am Lord, Send me!”. A Large focus of King´s Kids is to mobilize families to serve the Lord together as well as see the different generations come together to serve and that happened during this outreach. A key message we wanted to share with each church we visited, was the value of family and the importance of the roles of the parents to be voices of truth and blessing to their children, as well as challenge the church to honor the different generations (The elderly/grandparents, the parents/youth leaders, and the youth/kids).

A team picture with Shirley Alman! Shirley and her husband came to Colombia 40ish years ago to start the first YWAM base in all of South America. She was so happy to be able to spend time with the team and see the fruit that God has produced in Colombia through the seed she planted all those decades ago.

We feel encouraged as we are preparing to finish our last month of our training time with King´s Kids in the city of Bucaramanga and look forward to what God has in store for King´s Kids and our family in the town of Montelibano.

After the missions trip, we had a quick 5 day trip to see family and our sending church in Iowa. A beautiful yet short time with my parents and brother and his family. Plus a huge blessing to share a Sunday morning worship time with my home church and listen to a beautiful message on God’s grace. Thankful that God allowed the correct doors to be open that gave us the opportunity to take that small side trip home for those 5 days.

Us saying goodbye to my beautiful parents!

Well, thank you again for your love and encouragement and support and prayers. We constantly are humbled by those who join with us by prayer and/or financially in what God is doing in our family and through our family here in Colombia.

We want to invite you to keep on praying for our family as we are in the desired time to start multiplying as a family! As well as pray for us in the process to complete our required training time so that we may go and start this family ministry with King´s Kids in Montelibano.

If you have any questions, please ask! We would love to hear from you and try to make sure you have clarity in all that is going on!

God bless!

Taylor & Mar Friesen
